« on: May 07, 2021, 04:19:53 AM »
Hey guys!
I have a question to the yoshi camshaft. Can i install it without other modifications on pistons? And which performance can i get, is it worth the money?

Greets and thanks Andy!

Andy,
It can be installed without any other mofifications.
But......for tge price of the ST-1M there are other mods you can do that will improve performance.
I have 2 of the ST-1M's and am very happy with them, but my bikes are very modified.
You should replace coils first, then an exhaust, then maybe the camshaft.
Dyna 5 ohm are good for the $$$.
It's easy to spend $10K on a motor once you get started so be careful.....

Kevin is right. It's a nice cam, when combined with other parts. To start with I would look at a big bore too, the cruzinimage 466 kit is pretty good (and very well priced), and maybe can be improved further by skimming the head to raise compression

I would consider a DIY port job on the head before the cam.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

If you order the CruzinImage 466 kit, order an extra set of rings (x1 cylinder). I have heard of a lot of people breaking a ring during installation and then having a tough time getting CruzinImage to send a replacement. Their customer service isn't very good.

The Yoshimura 466cc kit is great, 3 times the cost, but great! The Yoshimura 466 kit instructions (in Japanese) state that if you are installing on an original 408cc engine (Japan and Italy were 398cc) then two base gaskets are required. So order an extra base gasket.

No, stock rockers, but I like to install new rockers with a new camshaft, especially with an expensive camshaft....

Oh yes thats a good argument!

I will take now the WebCam Stage1 camshaft for my engine, i have it already in my first engine.

The yoshi cam could be the better camshaft but to much money for me.....

CycleX sell a set of hardwelded rockers for not that much.  Welded and marked by Webcam. Mine in my K6 are.

CMSNL has relatively good price on a set of new Honda rockers.

New valves= new adjuster screws that are not expensive.
