gas cap pin
« on: May 09, 2021, 09:27:37 AM »
I recently installed my best gas cap on my gold K0 tank. I had a hondaman bolt left for the latch and it went on easily with the chrome acorn nut. For the pivot I had a couple left over pins which needed swedging on the end. I tried my old slot car gear puller with a ball bearing on the end. No joy. I ended up taping the top with a couple layers of masking tape. I used an old race car pushrod for a buck and swedged the end with a snap punch. Not factory perfect but it doesn't pull through.

I made a pin from a pop rivet; removed the rivet bit and carefully drilled the end of the pin so that it could be splayed. Looked fine, did the trick.
