Keihin PD Accelerator Pump Cam Not Moving With Throttle
« on: May 13, 2021, 06:27:44 PM »
The other day I began to notice a big stumble off idle on my 77F when you really crack the throttle. Thought that maybe I had loosened up some gunk in the pilots from sitting. Took the airbox off and noticed I had no accel. pump shot when using the throttle. I am able to push down on the pump rod with a flatblade and get a good shot that way so the diaphragm is good. I notice that the cam that operates the rod does not move when I use the throttle. If I pin the throttle wide open I have to push the cam back with my finger in order to contact the pump rod. Is there a spring I am missing that might have flown off or something in the linkage that got loose? I also have a problem with the fast idle cam on this bike as I have to crank up the master idle screw when starting on choke dead cold.

SOLVED. Somehow the rubber boot for the pump rod got all cockeyed and was gumming up the works. The cam was trying to move but couldnt push with enough force to move the rod. With the boot on correctly the cam pushes the rod fine now.
