cb350f, camshaft installation. Advice needed
« on: May 14, 2021, 07:29:12 AM »
Had the head off to grind the valves and lap the seats. Assembled the top end, but have now lost compression on all sylinders. I believe I installed the cam 90 degr. off. The manual doesn't show the correct pos. of the cam, when cyl. no 1 are at TDC, cam sprocket marks level with top. Is it possible I have bent the valves? What is the correct pos. of the camshaft? Attached photos show two options, one with lobes pointing down, other with lobes somewhat 90 deg. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks, but the manual doesn't tell me if the lobes should be pointing down or 90 deg. to the surface of the head.

I think they're pointing down in the diagram. Doesn't it look like the lobe closest to the viewer is pointing at roughly 7 o'clock, and the second one at roughly 4?

As long as the T 1-4 mark was lined up with the static mark and the sprocket line horizontal thats all that matters as it will be on tdc of either compression or exhaust it dont matter as both plugs spark together

Closest lobe is pointing 4 o' clock, second is 7 o'clock. That must be the correct position?
