Options to mod a MOTAD exhaust?
« on: June 04, 2021, 11:31:56 AM »
Does anyone have any tips or advice on options to mod a MOTAD 4-1 exhaust?

Basically the owner would like to get a reverse cone megaphone (a eBay slip on) or at least a more agressive sound but everything seems to have been welded together?

Is chopping it off even an option - because the diameter of the silencer looks massive.

I've attached a pic from MGH bikes - from what I can tell it's exactly this thing which is currently on the bike.

Thats the way Motad made them, silencer and collector one combined unit with 4 seperate down pipes. Out of buisiness now so a shame to cut it up if its still good
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Also briefly thought that, but both parts have severe rust and pitting (the pics don't tell).  I don't think the owner really cares if we molest the original Motads.
Maybe for future MOTs.

Just seeking out what the various options are for a owner on a strict budget :)
