Did I F**k this up?
« on: May 22, 2021, 07:13:14 AM »
I thought I would be smart and place my piston in the purple super clean over night.  I woke up the next morning with this white foam which wiped off easy but left the piston looking like this.  Is it reusable or do I need to get another?  Thanks

I'd say wallhanger now. Seafoam, Gumout, Gas, Varsol, Mineral Spirits all work well.

Most household cleaners/degreasers are very alkaline and will readily attack aluminum. Even if that piston measures out good, I probably wouldn't put it back in an engine I cared about.

Sure the piston is shot?
Try piston rings on it. Any play up-down? If alu has been eaten, ring grooves might show that easier.
I think max play is 0.1mm feeler gauge to squeeze in over or under ring.

Cheap pistons are otherwise available at www.cruzinimage.net
Std size might be too small for  used bores since piston/bore clearance is 0.025mm.
+0.50 kit need new bore.

I will have to check when I get off of work. Is it a concern if the AU is gone off the sleeve? Also is there a place that sells just a singular piston or do they all come in a set?
