Potential 750K8 Trade
« on: May 26, 2021, 11:56:52 AM »
Hi everyone!

I'm currently in talks to trade my Yamaha XJ600 Seca II which currently needs a starter idler gear for a 1978 CB750K8 with 23k that isn't running at the moment and will most likely be a project bike. The owner says it just needs a new set of points to get it running, but it looks as if it's been sitting for a considerable amount of time.

Anything in particular I should look out for when I go see it? Any idea what I should offer him in cash if he isn't amenable to a trade?

Does the ngine turn over on the kickstartand feel like it has decent compression.
What shape are the exhaust pipes.
The carbs on the K7 and K8 are a bit more work, but not an issue.
Decent sprokets and chain? The K8 uses a larger chain than earlier versions. Expensive to replace or convert backwards.
Is the 17” rear rim in decent condition? Hard to find good replacements
Otherwise, all the usual stuff. Most parts available.
