1977 CB550K transmission issue
« on: May 27, 2021, 06:05:43 PM »
I have an opportunity to possibly pick up this bike at a reasonable price, yet it has a transmission issue with it not shifting into 3rd gear and beyond. My thoughts are someone missed a hard shift in winding it out and bent a shift fork, or damaged the gear dogs on 3rd gear.
So is it possible to pull the motor and remove the lower case while keeping the top case and top of the motor intact. Can the transmission gears and shafts be removed in this arrangement to facilitate the repairs required?
Common sense.....isn't so common!
