'73+ Fork Seals in K1 Forks?
« on: May 30, 2021, 09:01:51 AM »
Question about fork seals in a set of CB750 K1 forks.  The earlier fork seals are listed as 35x48x14, and the later ones are 35x48x11.  I read some posts in which HondaMan commented that running the later seals results in a clunking in the forks because they don't hold the fork bushing properly in place, which I attribute to the 3mm height difference.  Any reason I couldn't make some 3mm tall spacers to go under the seals and run the later seals?  I have a set of K1 forks that need seals, and I have a couple sets of the later seals on-hand (and a lathe).  Wondering if anyone has done this before.  I don't see why it wouldn't work?

I don't see any reason against it either, while reading your post it was the solution I came up with on the fly too. I suppose you'd need to see the bottom of the old seal and the top of the bushing to design your spacer appropriately. Or maybe add the spacer above the new seal?

Having a lathe makes everything easier.  :)
