carb rebuild and sync
« on: June 12, 2005, 01:37:57 PM »
I am going to have to have my 78 cb750k carbs rebuilt and sync'ed. What are the best kits to buy? Do i need to buy 4 or does the kit come with enough for all 4 carbs? Im going to have a cycle shop do the work cause i dont have the time but i want to get my own kits.

What is typical charge for a job like this?
Is there anything i should ask the wrench before i decide on a place to do the work?

Thanks for the info
Don

Don,

It's usaually one kit per carb. How much to have someone else to it, I don't know. As to which is best you will get lots of answers. Do a search here with the terms "carb" "kit" and read away, lots of info. You may even decide to do it yourself.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

If you want the mech to guarantee their work, let them select the proper kits for the carbs.  If you've made other modifications to the bike from stock, ask them if they will tune your carbs to those changes.
Ask them if they will make adjustment if you start getting fouled plugs and if they will charge you for that adjustment.
If you can't trust them to get the proper kits, then you can't trust them to do the job right, either.
Ask them what kits are best and what has worked well for them in the past.
And, if you can't trust them to do the job right.  Why are you having them do the work?
