2021 Gilmore Museum Vintage MC days
« on: June 10, 2021, 10:08:00 AM »
I'm heading to Hickory Corner for the Gilmore Museum Vintage MC days on Saturday morning. I plan to do the group ride, check out the museum(which is great, I've been there multiple times) and hang out with Sean Barney and Ekpent (Eric) for a while before heading back to Chicago in late afternoon. Anyone in the area should feel free to join us.

The Gilmore sponsored ride is free and the museum is a reasonable admission and worth visiting if you have never been there. Anyone around Chicago that would like to ride up with me, I will be leaving Lincoln Park around 6am. For the ride back I will cut over to the Red Arrow Highway and take the scenic ride back.

PM me if you would like to come.

I have been looking forward to this Danny, but will happily be performing grandpa duties at a birthday party this Saturday. Hoping for abundant sunshine for all you riders.

Maybe next year. There should be some sunshine, but it is looking like I may get a wet ride home.

Road Warrior Danny made it over to Hickory Corners Saturday morning for the Gilmore ride just in the nick of time for the "kick stands up at 10:00" start. Haven't heard if he got wet going home. Sean was riding his tarted up orange 750F and I was on my green K4 though not pictured. Its Amish  :D  The pretty decorated 750 with the fairing has been ridden every year by a very nice lady for a long time. Guy on the GS1000 is a good friend or ours also. Some other random shots before we left.

All in all it was a pretty good size turnout. Here are a few more random pics.

Hey Eric. Not a drop of rain, it was sunny and beautiful the whole ride home. By the time I got home though I was wiped out. I ended up taking a nap before I had the energy to take a shower to rinse off the road grime.

Good weather + good roads + nice bikes + good company = an outstanding day.

Danny, I know just how you felt afterwards. It’s 140 one way for me making for a 350 mile day, farther for you.

I’m about 50% on my Gilmore meet attendance… everything needs to line up just right for me to make it,
and FWIW the birthday party was also terrific.

Count me in for next year, I'm on your way. I somehow have never even heard of the Gilmore Car Museum, just looked it up and it looks pretty cool. Think I may head up there in a couple weeks.

I've been to the museum 5 or 6 times and the MC 3 or 4, this was only the 2nd time I did the round trip ride. In 2019 my 750 was just getting back on the road so I trailered it up. The other time was on my 77 GL1000 in 2013 or 14
