Hi on the brake caliper on K5 750 has been dragging. I took it apart and it looks like the photos below. I replaced the piston a seal a year or two ago. Being that its all crusty around the pad do I need to replace the seal again or just clean everything all up?
Also What was the original color of the caliper form the factory gloss satin or matte black?
What's the best way to clean up the dragged up rotor Scotch Brite pad?
That's very crusty. If you replaced the piston and seal in the past 2 years, I would look deeply as to why it's leaking already. It shouldn't be leaking like that in 5-10 years or more under normal riding conditions.
Did you put in a new piston and seal when you replaced them? Who did you get them from?
Did you clean out the groove and bore?
How has it been riden? Lots of dirt roads?
Definitely at a minimum clean up the rotor with scotch Brite and brake cleaner, better to have it resurfaced.
