Not that it’s a really big deal as the bike is pretty much bare at the moment, but I just wasted a day. The PO before the PO and I discussed this thing. (PO did nothing to it in 10 years, so I contacted the guy before him who had done all the parts acquisition and initial work.)
He said the carburetors were ready to go, but me being the skeptic I had to see it to believe it. He wasn’t kidding. They were scrupulously clean. But I confirmed all passages, slow jets, float levels, needle valve and organics. No issues here at all.
So they are back on and ready to synchronize. I’m running out of reasons to fire this thing up and see how it runs. I do have a Dyna ignition set up in the “boxes o’ stuff” I got with the bike, but I’m gonna fire it off with points and may end up leaving them in there. Because points don’t just die on the road past Shiprock, New Mexico for no reason. (Don’t ask).
