YE OLDE OIL PUMP [NOT OIL BRANDS] QUESTION
« on: June 06, 2021, 07:38:07 PM »
hey all, Finally getting the mongrel-damaged-cases-K0 back together and the oil pump has had a very hard life with damage to the rotors on both the supply and return sides. While its not bad, I had a spare pump laying around, so I stripped it and installed all new springs, cutoff valve etc and I noticed that the end float in the drive shaft is about 1/4" and there doesnt appear to be any way to adjust/eliminate that end float......
Is this normal or am I missing something????
Al

Mine was the same way when I took it off - same comment about end play -  cleaned it out and re-installed seems to stay centred just fine.

End play on the shaft should be in the few thousandths range, not 1/4". You must be missing one of the pins that holds the inner rotor.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.
