Refurbishing tank badges
« on: June 18, 2021, 04:53:49 AM »
The tank badges on my C95 needed replacing but a few searches only threw up a couple and they were $65 one was broken in half and it was plus postage from the States!
I decided to see if I could refurb the existing un-cracked but sad looking badges. I found the black paint and silvery gold finish picked off quite easily using a pointy scalpel. Once I cleaned up the clear, slightly yellow, badges I then carefully painted the black surround leaving the flying wing logo clear. While the paint was still tacky I laid the badge onto some aluminium cooking foil and gently pushed the foil into the winged area. The result is not perfect and the second one is a little better than the first as I used the point of a cocktail stick to apply the paint to the very fine detailed areas.
