Hello,

I ride a CB350F and found my rear tube slowly leaking a few days ago. The hole in the tube occurred in the exact spot where there is a "vent hole" in the rim (the left hole, near the yellow sticker):

I had a tube strip installed and it seems that sunlight/chemicals/dirt wore through this specific spot in the rim strip (at the end of the Sharpie):

Which then created this hole in the tube:

From the outside, when the tube was leaking, this was my perspective (with tube strip installed):

My front rim doesn't have one of these vent holes and the tire and tube seem to be doing fine. Can I prevent this issue in the future on my back rim somehow? Is there something I could use to cover up the hole?

I always thought those holes were for rim locks.
Resurrecting a Herman Munster CB750 from a few old baskets of K2 and K7 parts.

Yes.... and none of my cb’s (400F, 550K and 750K/F) ever had any “vent holes”.

Called security bolts or locks in UK, used to be common on British bikes

Never seen rim lock holes on any 1970's sohc4's, but I don't know the 350's at all.  Is it possible that is the incorrect rim?
If it works good, it looks good...

It may be the incorrect rim, but I often ride off-pavement, so getting a rim lock will be a great investment  ;)

Just purchased a rim lock and I'm thrilled to get back up and running. Thank you each for your advice
