Removing powder coat in brake spindle bore

Have powder coat in the rear brake spindle bore in the frame. Bike is almost together. And the powder coat looks great. Would think heat, chemical, sand or dremel. What do you guys think?

What are the tolerances for the spindle/how free should it turn?

The right reamer woukd be a treat.
 Might be abke to wire wheel it, i remember when p coat came out, we coukd remove it with a wire wheel..

Have some brass wire brushes for a hand drill at the house, think they are a slightly smaller diameter than the bore. What do you think 754? Sounds similar to what your thinking.

Which reamer do you have in mind. Have a link/more specific type?

90 percent of brass brushes i checked with magnet are steel anyway..

 Reamer would likey be shaft size.. metric that big are not common. Expanding reamer could do it.... measure shaft, hole woll be a few thou over.
 You could try scraping it out with a pocket knife, but it wouod take a while..

What about just using sandpaper? 80 grit rolled up or wrapped around a suitably sized dowel.

A big drill of the same size as the shaft would do, you may have to clamp mole grips on the shank to turn it. Needs to rotate easy but not flop about.
Little sanding drums in dremel kits would work also.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

I use a drill bit about 50% of the diameter of the hole. Wrap it in a tight roll of plumber’s sanding cloth (the stuff that comes in a roll about 1.5” wide). Tape the end to the drill bit and wrap it counter clockwise. Make the roll just big enough to squeeze in the hole. As the drill turn clockwise, it stays wrapped. As the paper wears, tear off a few inches..... the stuff is aggressive , so go easy and stop as soon as the axle will pass through!

I was trying to save  the original hole size, not make it loose... saning has a tendency to bellmouth, hourglass or taper a hole..

Good idea with a slotted rod. I’ll try it.

Drill is too big you dont want to oversize the hole..

 I like the sandpaper flap wheels. They wear down to any size and can be wound into the hole to provide a good fit. The ones with scotchbrite between the flaps clean corroded engine aluminum nicely after they wear down a bit.
