Exhaust Ebay

 Was Wondering there is  a exhaust on EBay says its for a 1981 will it fit a 1978 750K model?

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

No, the 81 is a different bike. In the States we had SOHC CB750 until 1978. In 1979 we got the DOHC bikes, DOHC pipes will not fit SOHC bikes.

I have seen a CB750 SOCH with Vance & Hines 4-1 for that later twin cam 750 if I understood correctly.

It will fit the cylinder head ok,  but as the later engines have a large sump there will be a gap under the motor /
above the exhaust.

Yes the DOHC engines are a few inches taller, so there will be a gap between the pipe and the bottom of the engine. If you're a talented welder you can shorten the headpipes to make it fit. It's been done here on the forums a few times.
