Shipping times seem to vary greatly and customs can throw a huge monkeywrench into times with their arbitrary delays.

As I look for parts I'm finding that some vendors list parts they don't actually have nor can they get them. I've been refunded 3 times for some hard to find stuff.
I'm eventually finding things but it's scary in some ways.
I need gauge lights now and I've got some on order but I'm not convinced they will come through. If I simply can't get them I think a set for an SOHC Honda can be made to work since they look very similar. I'll do it if I have to but I'm trying to keep it stock.

There's heaps of repro Z1 stuff Steve, I bought just what you're looking for, for my Z1-B last year. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I'll keep looking, I see a lot of out of stock messages.
Push in light socket, harness, it needs two, one for each meter.

Doremi is a high quality manufacturer of aftermarket parts for the Z1.
My re-pop body kit and exhaust are Doremi, purchased through Z1parts.net.
Eight years later still look great!

The chrome parts I had re-done returned. I know some will say it’s over done. It looks like very nice chrome.

+1.  I've never said chrome is overdone!   I have said "looks like cheap plating" though.

Body sets, body sets
Both Z1 Enterprises and Z1 parts.net sell body sets
Z1 Ent and Z1 parts net have a set made in Japan
Z1 parts net also has a set made in San Diego, it’s a few hundred dollars less
I’m not letting a few hundred make my decision on this already expensive project, I just wonder which set is the best
Anyone have any experience with these?

Mine is from Z1parts.net, still looks great after 7 years...

Fairly certain it was manufactured by Doremi, wonder if Z1 Ent is from the same?

Well, now that you mention it, yes.
Today I did some asking around and a fellow on Oahu that is in the custom car and bike circuit over there said he could after I sent him a photo. I’ve sent him information on the paint I need (green/yellow). I think I may just take my stuff over there and give it to him, his Instagram handle is @808painter1 and it looks like he’s done some fancy work. I need to clean the inside of the tank first, it’s actually not too bad, maybe a vinegar soak is all it needs.
I hope this can happen.
Oahu has a pretty active group.

Steve, that's good the fellow can fix that tank ! it looks rough to me..
I would recommend using Evaporust rather than Vinegar as the Evaporust will not flash-rust on you later like the vinegar does.

Yeah, that'll buff out! Ha ha, there's a car show I watch occasionally about some Mopar guys who take on restorations of cars that look like they've just been saved from the crusher, and your tank reminds me of some of their misshapen hulks Steve, if that guy in Oahu can fix that sucker, he's not a panel guy, he's a magician! I've got the same paint set as Stev-O from Doremi, made in Japan, supposedly in the same factory as the originals. If you can get your OEM tank fixed though, it'll certainly add to the bike's value. ;D

Evaporust or Oxalic acid powder (amazon...wood bleach) in pound to gallon of hot water concentration will clean out/remove the rust without removing good metal that vinegar will do...

Definitely easier to buy a pre-painted kit but the reason I asked is I thought it was pointed out earlier that there may be something special and different about the extremely early Z1 gas tanks. Oh the joys of restoration. Even if you went with new aftermarket you have the original to send off with the bike if you ever sell it off.

I'll go find some rust remover, I think Lowes here has a version. Many products are not available here in paradise and many more can't be shipped here, at least not very easily.
The early tanks had differences. The main one I've found is the neck width where it goes around the steering head is narrower by a bit. Have not looked closely for other differences yet.

Nice thing about the Oxalic Acid is it is very inexpensive and it works as well as Evaporust or MetalRescue. I think it is the same stuff...

When I used Oxalic acid/wood bleach it did flash rust:more when I took too long to dry the water out of the tank.
The Evaporust is more expensive for sure but I didn't notice any flash-rust;the ingredients are different.
