Custom ‘78 Goldwing
« on: July 01, 2021, 09:38:59 PM »
I came across this thing about eight years ago. It was a remarkably preserved, fully Vetterized ‘78 Goldwing.  I put it on a serious diet. This motorcycle gets more compliments than any other one I’ve ever owned, bar none. It just seems to strike a chord with people. I can’t take credit for the styling cues. I blatantly copied ideas from around the country and combined them into this thing.

This one has also been a bit of a canvas and has gone through a number of changes. One of the more interesting things that I tried for a season and a half was the duel weber carburetor set up. Ran like a scalded dog, but with a bit of a flat spot off idle that was more irritating than horrible.

But I didn’t like the fact that it needed sculpting on the shelter side panels in order to clear a decent air cleaner. I also didn’t like the overall aesthetic although it also garnered a bunch of attention. It was cool for a while.

But I moved the set up on after a while to someone who appreciated it more than I did - Including the linkage that I fashioned which took a while!
