mini bike maybe?
« on: June 23, 2021, 09:16:50 AM »
I have an old model minibike that has a 3 hp briggs engine, the finishes are mostly gone and the seat has been modified but I bought it for $20 about 20 years ago.  I added a modern coil but can't get the old flywheel to make a spark.
I saw a $2500 very original Bonanza mini for sale with a Tecumseh engine and a Hegar kik start on it. That kik start fascinated me, I don't see any for sale anywhere else.  Hegar is still in business selling go kart and airplane brake parts but doesn't have the old tooling, someone approached them in 2013 and they were open to making a batch if someone had a complete unit to work from. It didn't ever happen as far as I can tell.

Like many guys here, I was a child of the 60's and 70's when Mini Bikes were king Don, and would have loved one that not only had a kick start, but a gearbox too? I wish I still had my like Honda QA50 "Amigo" that I traded my bicycle for, much to the disgust of my dad, who'd only bought it for me a year or two before. Did anyone ever make a gearbox for a Mini Bike Don? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Back in the day, there was a minibike with a Hodaka bike engine/trans. Maybe Steens or something?
Edit It was Bonanza that used the Hodaka engine.
