The Hogs Gone Wild racing series is returning to Shadyside Dragway in Shelby,  NC tomorrow and Saturday.  The Friday schedule includes a Harley versus Metric 16 bike shootout. I've decided to enter the class with the old Supersport.  I haven't raced the bike all season long but plan to try my luck in the saddle at this event. I'll probably enter it in the gamblers race later that evening.

And to my good friend Jerry, nope, I have not freshened up the engine yet. I'll  be racing on a wing and a prayer that it stays together. My local machinist is back up to snuff now so I'll be taking it apart soon to get the head rebuilt with new stainless valves. Those stock Honda valves have served me extremely well for the last 25 years but it time to upgrade. Nope, it won't add an discernable horsepower to the package but it'll help seal up the pump.

If anyone on the forum lives nearby, come on up to this event and hangout. Unfortunately, I won't be there for Saturday's feature though.

Another action shot via copyright. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to win a round. It was hot Friday afternoon and it robbed what little horsepower that was left in this worn out ride. I dialed a 6.72 on the 1st round in eliminations and ran a 6.71. To my disappointment I red-light to take the lose. Bought back in for 2nd round with a 6.72 dial in but red-light again. It was okay because I was at least able to throw a leg over the bike again.

Man, I miss Cleveland county.  Lived on Leander Street in Shelby for quite a number of years. Visited Shadyside regularly.  That was back in my zl900 Eliminator days graduated to the Vmax. (Not to mention a nasty little black 69 Chevelle).

<sigh>   ...would love to be there

When I freshen this thing up, I'm definitely putting a crank back in that has a snout for the starter gear. 99.99 % of the time it's a one kick deal to fire it up. The problem is 100% of the time I have to kick it but since I had the issue with sciatica,  I feel some discomfort the following day. Not to mention I may bump up the compression a tad and it may be more difficult to step down on it. I'm not going to throw the age thing in the mix since most of you are old dogs just like me and experience the affects of aging everyday as I do. Lol.
