I rebuilt Machine tools 30 years ago, even then some of the older manufacturer's codes were not available to cross check. Generally I would select the correct size, the 6209 part, then select the current designation for retainer, or seals. Bearing Clearance was always one of the hard calls things to determine, I learned that unless the bearing was subjected to high temperature differential between the inner or outer race, standard clearance was suitable. I would expect this to be true with transmission bearings.
With Transmission bearings one of the problems is the retaining ring groove, Honda seems to have had special bearings made. a good machine shop with a quality lathe and ceramic tooling can cut them...Money
Modern bearings from quality bearing companies are generally better quality then bearings were then. Better Steel, tighter manufacturing tolerances. I trusted SKF NSK, or KOYO. (in the past I preferred Fafnir and other US manufactures. They have been bought up.)
