split the crankcase halves without releasing head bolts.
« on: July 13, 2021, 06:33:23 AM »
Hi. Following this trouble I had,

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,187359.0.html

I need to split the crankcase halves without releasing the cylinder and head bolts.
Do you see any issue to do that?
Off course the camchain will be annoying beacuse I can't lifth the crankshaft for the cleaning.
 Thanks and Regards.

That's the regular way to do it with most Honda's, so no problem at all.

You can pull the cam and then you can take the crank out. So no need to go deeper on the top end than that. Split cases more than once to fix bottom end issues without pulling top end.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

One thing to warn you about,, make sure you get the few top bolts out , before you turn it over, o e might be under starter or somewhat hidden.
Then block upthe rear so near level. ALTERNATOR ROTOR does not need to be pulled, clutch .. not sure.
You will be in there  short  time but you will neeed to clean and reseal the joint..
