How early we talking ? On the 71-76 round top carbs I use a 3/32 o-ring for the drain plug. Getting the old drain plugs out can be kind of hard sometimes the first time if they have been in there forever. Good fitting screwdriver and some heat can work well and doing them while still mounted on the carbs offers a better perch.
