Yamiya 4/4 Exhaust Has Arrived
« on: July 27, 2021, 09:06:36 AM »
Just got the email that my pre-order of the 4/4 reproduction is in.

Will the joints and flanges of my aftermarket 4/1 work with the 4/4 repro or do I also need to purchase those as well?

Thanks,

Ken

If your bike has the stock 72 connectors they will re-use fine.  You may want new crush washers to get a good seal. I found an o ring pick helps get the old flat ones out.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

The stock pipe hooks up to spigots which are connected to the head. If you don't have any Ricky Racer has some for sale. You will need muffler clamps also if you don't have those. Not sure of your getting the rubber tubes etc. that connect the pipes on each side also ?? The stuff in the first two pics is what you need and the mounts in the last pic do not work.

Rear bolts holding them into the frame and stock passenger foot pegs plus heat shields that are not included in the 4-4 pipe set.

I use 1/2" heat/oil braded hose I cut in correct lenght and open up. Wrap it around the connecting pipes between 1-2 and 3-4 pipes. Cut lenght so each side will gel too halves to fit. Strap it together with a black nylon strap or 2.
Stock  is complicated to get on. The homemade easy afterwards when pipes are fitted. Remember that you need to lower rear to get fron to hook onto the head spigot. When raising rear it will lock.

- Do not hammer on pipes at front when a pipe or 2 have glided off spigot a little!! , Lower rear and slide on at front.
Hammer on them will not move them when the spigot angle work as a self locking device.

In correct position here you can strap a luggage strap around 2 pipes or all 4 so they will not slide off.

Easier to do one side first, then the other.
It needs some fiddling to get it to fit the frame hole with the long bolt.
It differ bike to bike and maybe head will affect too.

My K6 needed the pipes to sit as deep as possible at front while my K2 did not. I used same pipes.
I had to lower rear and let pipe slide off the spigot a little.

No 2 need to be trickled inside of the sidestand.

I thought by your description that might be the case. Sometimes the dirty used spigots and finned collars can clean up well but with nice new pipes you need to find some really clean nice ones. Did you get or place an order for the heat shields with your pipes ?

I need it all so I made my way thru the parts diagram ordering piece by piece.

When tighten the clamps, do not tighten too hard, they can collapse.
I use a 1/4" 12mm socket.
