TLR steering felt weird and i blamed it on the Bridgestone front and perhaps the steering head bearings being slightly loose. Nope, I pulled the steering damper and noticed there was a significant amount of free play.
Drained it, new 5W oil in. Most difficult thing was to get all the air out but I managed to do it.
Now she feels like the freight train she is again  ;D

Does that damper assm. allow for oil changes ?  :D

Oh yes! Suzuki doesn't tell what weight oil they used so I took an educated guess and for now it seems to work fine. One more track day in a week so that will really tell I was right or not.

I like that your steering damper was designed for oil changes  :)

I took a pair of very good cond. OEM vintage rear shocks w/ 4-way adjustable rebound damping and slowly/carefully created a drain hole  ::) on the bottom of both,completely drained/pumped-out all the old stuff,then I mixed a ratio of 75% 5wt. and 25% 10wt. and refilled them with a 'hair bit' more of the fresh oil,than I removed from each. This took a number of hours..  ::) I have the time..
I tapped & installed a pair of 'drain plugs' w/ teflon tape and a nylon seal washer and the stock springs from my bike and they are doing well.

I hope to afford a new pair of fully adjustable YSS or IKON's at some point in the near future,but til then,this will do.

Last track day of the season is here, well tomorrow but anyway.
Weather has been very warm and forecast said it will continue for a while.

Heading out with three friends who are riding CBR 600 (2001?, Öhlins suspension, quickshifter etc.), BMW 1000 (a former national level racer on a ten year old superbike so he is on a level of his own), supercharged big bore Suzuki GSX EF and me on my stock Tiller.
I'm sure we have a day of trash talk and fun ahead of us  ;D

Racechrono loaded on my old phone and my friend gave me his old GPS tracker thingy to hook up with the phone so my lap times are more accurate.
Aiming to improve my PB a bit but we will see... sure need to work on my riding position as it's getting dangerous to hang on the bike like I never saw one  ;D

Oh yeah about the YSS... I have a pair I used for a drag bike. They were built to spec for me in Finland and they had some leakage issues but YSS has improved the design and upped their game in all areas.
There is a certain WorldSSP team that seems to use their suspension and is succesful.

We had a good time, no doubt about it  ;D
Supercharged EF without enough ground clearance was slow, as we expected, CBR dude and I went pretty much the same pace most of the time, he is 12 years younger and 20kg lighter and it shows  ;D. We actually calculated the combined weight and he has 50kg advantage with the rider/bike weights combined. BMW guy was in the fast group riding his PB's all day even with some technical issues.

I borrowed my friends old racing leathers (1-piece suit) and actually managed to get my knees down for the first time ever, in a controlled manner at least  :D

Pace was pretty much the same as last time but my cheap rear Mitas started overheating and slipping so I didn't really have the confidence to push it.
I had too much fun fixing my riding position and getting used to stuff touching the ground + not a lap of clear track ahead without passing someone slower I was about two seconds from my PB.
It's time to up the game and move on to a faster group next summer.

When I bought this bike I promised myself I would keep it stock and just ride but trackdays got me thinking...
