CX500 Turbo
« on: August 01, 2021, 11:58:06 AM »
I just took a look at my brag line… i.e. signature. I was horrified to realize I had the year incorrect (83) on my CX500 turbo. Not sure how many sharp eyed readers picked up on that, but in 83 they went to the 650 turbo. And improvement on an already well done Motorcycle. Also, far fewer 650s were built than 500s, although both are relatively scarce.  Each was a one year only machine.

Anyway, the typo triggered me to mention it.  Honda frequently made it a habit to flex their technical muscles and show the world what they could do.  Including, but not limited to:

SOHC CB750
GL1000
CBX
CX500T
VFR
CBR1100XX

My Turbo is a long way from perfect, and is a project that’s currently on the back shelf. It “had” been front and center, but got preempted and is now relegated to “some future date“.  It’s all there, has relatively low miles (19k), is reasonably well preserved, but needs a lot of love and attention.

I would not known, have very little interest in 80's bikes  [although I do own a '82 GPz 550.

"The GPz550 is arguably one of the most influential motorcycles in history, and its four-year run absolutely launched the sportbike as we know it."
