Topic: cb450 front brakes job

Anyway, here it is...in the right place.

I am restoring my bike and one thing I have always wanted to do is get 2 front brakes on my bike. Someone here suggested last year that I put 550 calipers/rotors and a goldwing master cylinder on it-hard to find these parts. Recently someone said I could put an entire front end of a 750s on my cb450..can anyone confirm? Any options for this endeavour are appreciated.

I am putting stainless braided cables on my front brake regardless of above project and need to know if the stainless braided cable can easily be fitted? I haven't seen pic's of this done but I think it should be feasible enough.

I'm not sure about the 450, but if my 350 (twin) is a good example - yes, the front end should bolt right up.  I installed a cb500 front end on my 350 last night & it was nothing more than a bolt on.

When you bolted on the cb500 front end, did you swap out the entire triple tree/fork assembly, and simply bolt it to the steering head?

Unless the fork size data provided at ohiocaferacers.com is wrong, the cb350 twin uses 33mm fork tubes, while the cb500 would be 35mm.  That means that you could not simply swap forks from a cb500 into the triple tree from a cb350 twin. (Or if you did, the clamps may not hold the smaller forks firmly.)

Lokai, the 450 has the same 35mm diameter forks as the 750, so if you wanted to simply swap the 750 forks into your 450 triple tree, you shouldn't have any problem. The 750 forks may be a bit longer, but you could just slide the extra length up in the triple tree.

Wow, that is maybe the way to go then cuz this guy is selling a 750 front end !
 I will check it out and possibly buy it anyway as it is a cheap grab. Thanks alot, Ill let you know if I get that worked out.

I've used the 750 frontend on the 450s.They use the same bearings but will also fit into the 450 trees. The 450 had a pretty good drum on the earlier ones. Works well for normal driving.
