Thanks Bill, yep once the black cases arrive I'll take them over to Hussein's place to get blasted. He also wants me to rebuild his C92 Benly engine, so I'll probably take his engine home when I drop the T500 cases off, strip the Honda engine, and take him back the cases to blast before I reassemble it with new pistons, rings, gaskets etc.

Once I get my T500 cases back from him I'll swap the guts across. I don't have to do the oil dam mod because the 1974 cases were a new casting with a higher wall to stop the 4th and 5th gear eating issues of the earlier bikes. I'll keep my 1971 cases for the "special" I'm thinking of building.

I am really happy to have a set of cases so close to my frame number, I'm gonna get a custom made frame tag made now with the new numbers. ;D

Re the C92 Benly. I have rebuilt and restored quite a few of these over the years and still have a couple in the shed. I also have a lot of NOS parts including gaskets and piston kits so let me know if there's something you need.

Woohoo! Hey thanks mate, I definitely will need gaskets for sure, and I imagine it'll need pistons, rings, chains, etc? I'll let you know what I need once I pull it apart. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

Terry, member here 'Magpie'/Cliff has one and I think he may have already rebuilt his? and will probably also have manuals and info on the C92,just in case.I imagine you won't need anymore than the resources that 'krusty' already has  ;)

Terry,Did you receive any more parts to make your T500 ready for long rides yet ?
I want to hear your ride reports on that bike  :)

G'Day Bill, well of course I'm still waiting for the new kick starter gear that those idiots at MyUS.com sent out a month ago and according to the tracking information has been "Out for delivery" since last Monday? Luckily for me I suffer from anxiety so I bought a new kick starter pawl kit (which is probably all that's wrong with mine anyway) and it arrived on Thursday, along with another kick starter shaft assembly complete with a good looking gear and pawl assembly.

The good news is that my engine cases have left the US and should be here in the next week or so, so I can get them blasted and then pull my engine out. With luck I'll have it all back together and running sweetly before Christmas is upon us and all bike work must cease so I can devote a week cleaning the place up for our annual Christmas Eve BBQ. The oil pump seal kit also arrived this week from Canada, so I'll rebuild the pump once the engine's out.

Now that I'm out of lockdown and free to ride the wheels off my bikes again I'm going to be doing more riding than bike work, in the last week I've done over 500 miles on my bikes and am just getting ready to jump on one of them (haven't decided which) to go for a ride today. I did wander past the T500 last week and decided that the sidecover looked a bit "unfinished" so mounted the new badge, which does make it look much nicer. ;D

Thanks Bill, I would have been a lot more pissed off with the missing kick starter gear if it wasn't for the fact that I can't do anything now until the cases turn up anyway, so MyUS.com's incompetence isn't that much of an issue right now, although once again I've spent too much money on something as simple as a sketchy kick starter assembly.

Good thing was this week a guy who'd been enquiring about some K0 leftovers I had came thru and bought them, so I was actually able to put some money back into my fast depleting bank account, so the sale of the K0 bits will pay for the T500's cases, blasting, kick starter gear assembly, etc. Nice to restock the money bin......... ;D

The old bikes we have and find needed parts for, we have to buy while available leaving less room to think about it, now or miss it! ;D
This make the pile of parts even bigger and cause birth of another bike build of the extra parts......;D

That is so true Per, I only need a few more parts and I'll have another engine. I just sold my old chainsaw for $1731 AUD ($1281.00 USD) on Ebay, so more money for bike parts, woohoo! ;D

Thanks guys, yeah I didn't get a bid on it at all until the day before the auction ended, then there was a flurry of movement and it went up 700 bucks in a few minutes. No idea what the new owner is going to do with it Bill, I doubt if he's bought it to use on a daily basis, but from what I've been able to gather these chainsaw collectors do fire them up occasionally. No skin off my nose, it was sitting on the floor of my garden shed forgotten about for years, and too bloody heavy for what I want anyway, I'd rather have the cash. ;D

What "test" was that Bill? I need to rebuild the pump before I worry about the lines. I'll do that when I pull the engine out. ;D

It’s good news week, someone dropped a bomb somewhere contaminating atmosphere and blackening the sky, er, sorry, no, that’s not good news at all! But the good news for the T500 is that the new kickstarter gear arrived yesterday, only 6.5 weeks after it was sent! (Fcuk you, MyUS.com…..)

On top of that, I just received a message from Fedex that my 1974 engine cases are being delivered today, woohoo! Well, the last two Fedex deliveries were delayed several days, but hopefully they’ll arrive this week so I can hit them with paint stripper and if need be, take them over to Hussein to get vapor blasted. I’ll probably get them blasted regardless as it’s so nice to work on perfectly clean parts, but the last ones got a bit expensive so I’ll decide after I hit them up with the paint stripper.

Nope, not gonna pay Hussein extra to blast the paint off, last time he fcuked around with some sh1tty lemon juice based stripper that took forever and charged me for it, when I told him what stripper to use. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it think….. ;D

They apparently have a small crack in a rather weird place, but in an area where it won't matter if oil weeps thru, (behind the clutch cover) but I'll have a good look to see if it'll need some repairs before I put it together, I need to have the T500 up and running in the next 2 or 3 weeks so I can clear out the patio in time for Christmas. ;D

I know I shouldn't, but I had to laugh today at a fellow T500 noob who bought an "Original 1974 T500" for $5000 (AUD, really cheap, they go for well over $10K here) who posted a short vid on FB of him kick starting his new bike. I told him I was jealous as my kick starter assembly is damaged, and he laughed, saying how well his new bike is running.

A little later he posted that on his first ride he plopped it into 5th gear, and it sounded like it was gonna explode. Turns out his 1974 T500 has a 1971 engine, so more than likely his 4th and 5th gear are shot. I told him to closely check his kick starter assembly while he has his engine in pieces, as mine was good for 20 or so kicks before it started slipping.......... ;D

Ha ha, I've been running the annual Christmas Eve BBQ for probably 30 years Bill, I love it. I buy everything so they don't need to bring anything, and start drinking around lunchtime, so that by the time the relatives (wife's family, mine all live too far away) arrive I'm as drunk as a skunk, so I don't get bored, I quite enjoy myself.

The next day, Christmas Day, we all have a lunch over at the mother in laws place, she loves me more than the wife does, so I'm treated like a king, and don't get out of my chair all day. Christmas is my favourite time of year...... ;D

The next day, Christmas Day, we all have a lunch over at the mother in laws place, she loves me more than the wife does, so I'm treated like a king, and don't get out of my chair all day. Christmas is my favourite time of year...... ;D

Terry,Do any of the Christmas time relatives like to have you show them a few of your bikes ?  :)

Yeah mate, every Christmas I have to show them my bikes, and my guns. Sadly the wife won't let me ride any of the bikes or shoot my guns, due to my reputation for bad behaviour when drunk...... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)
