'77 750 Oil Pump Rebuild Kit - Best One to Buy
« on: August 06, 2021, 09:52:10 AM »
At the oil pump rebuild stage now and I've already bought the 77-78 Oil Seal that's bigger around the counter shaft. However I'm curious as to whether anyone has thoughts as to what the best rebuild kit is out there. I would imagine not all are created equally, especially not as far as quality is concerned. Thoughts?

Also, are there any additional things I should be buying as an upgrade in this modern age?
Thankful for everyone on this forum. Grateful to continue to learn so much.

Their rebuilt/reconditioned oil pumps for $149 are a better deal than the kit...

Yeah but if there's no distinct advantage to buying a rebuilt or reconditioned one then I'll just stick to rebuilding my own. However if there's an aftermarket oil pump or additional things I can buy that are better and worth it, then I'll go that route.

So what did not check out? Or what did not mic. out correct? I'm sure you got a new screen and the oil lines are good on the inside.

Their rebuilt/reconditioned oil pumps for $149 are a better deal than the kit...

Bump

Still curious as to whether one brand of oil pump rebuild kits are better than the other.

The Cycle X one is $150, but a different rebuild kit I found is only $34. What gives?

Well the reason I went with them versus another company...............
CycleX as been rebuilding and selling CB750 parts ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they have been in business for over 40 plus years Thats all they do PERIOD
They are others company's selling the rebuild kits but its like any other item you buy "you get what you pay for" just my opinion. I would rather pay little more for something that I know that as been tested and used by many other people.
Most the "rebuild" kits you see on other places do or dont have all the parts.....................I purchased a oil pump rebuild kit off ebay and the parts were not in spec as measurements of the rubber oil stopper was smaller and the oil screen was to big.............................i got the cyclex kit it was dead on perfect...........................
In long run if there is no wear on on gears between them if its less than .003" your good if more than that you need new pump .........................................

I think its 150 if you send them an oil pump they will send you a refurbished one. Cycle x rebuild kit is like 80

Better look at their website again, rebuild complete kit is $199. Reconditioned oil pump is $149 with exchange.

I think their website has some issues right now… kit was $100 first time I looked. Likely a misprinted pump and it should have been $199 and they messed up the edit… that’s my educated guess.

Yeah it says $199 for the rebuild kit but on their ebay page it's listed at 149 so I just went ahead and bought it there.
