Reversed polarity on idiot lights?
« on: August 17, 2021, 03:09:24 PM »
I’ve got a ‘76 CB550K I was putting an LED kit on, but the neutral and oil indicators wouldn’t work with leds, but worked with the old bulbs. Sticking a meter on the sockets revealed they are center negative, but the high beam and turn signal are center positive. The wires all seem to be in the correct spot as far as the headlight.

So before I go any further, is this normal?

Did I miss something?

Agreed, we normally think of switching the 12V side but some of the indicators function by completing the ground side of the circuit. That's how they work with only one wire.

No, no blown bulbs. But I like the LEDs brightness and power consumption.
