Hello Everyone,

Long time tinker/garage engineer, short time lurker (Joined in April), fan of fermented beverages, and have dove head first into a neglected old girl CB750K7 for a full rebuild.  It appears she has just over 17,000 original miles, frame is straight, and most components are present.  I'm in no hurry, so I plan to go through every bit of this old bike...before before I put her back on the road. 



Purchased HondaMans book...and an old Chilton book.  Extremely impressed with MY CB750 book, getting the engine out was no problem at all, with all of Mark's pointers.  Found two issues, a seized oil filter bolt, and an oil pan full of gas.



Engine is out and now debating next steps...if I should do the engine rebuild or hire a shop to do so.

Yep, gonna need a new one of those and housing.  Tried everything I know of, vise grips, pipe wrench, chisel on wide part of head flange...and lots of heat on all of the above.

Looking thru my stuff...I also found 3 of the K7 mufflers (and a 4th one of the #3 pipe) still in my garage, in case one of yours is rusted?

Welcome from Texas.  The tank appears to be an F model.

There are two sizes of oil filter bolt heads, source the larger one, I believe it is 17mm.

Nice! I'll have to check it out.  I can commit to late-October, when I'll have finances ready to start the rebuild.  Let me know what your schedule is looking like.

Thanks for the tip!  It is a F model tank, I purchased the bike from a motorcycle shop estate auction and am guessing they had intentions of a rebuild.  However the bottom of the tank is pretty rusted...for fun, I'm going to give it a go on cutting out rust and welding a custom plate in place.  If it doesn't work out I did score a K tank for $40 in immaculate condition, as a back up.

I have a K7 tank, too. I think the petcock still works, but the door on top is missing. I used to use it for running engines after rebuild, but now I have an IV-type bottle, courtesy of a member here, that if much easier to use.
