this is my 75 model which was also brown. I just saw this post and can also get a better picture tomorrow but understand that depending on the camera and lighting, it can look different .

I think I would have to see one in person to see the difference as when I view the images they look black to me and I didn't used to have color perception issues, don't think I do now.

The “brown “ color is more of a sheen and is hard to see even in person.

I've always wondered what it looked like, as every picture I've ever seen looks black.

be aware that colour rendering in photos and especially on computer screens can be different from real life.











when i looked for a replacement cover this particular brown was not available anywhere. i went for a good replica of the original pattern, in black.

Wasn’t it only 76? Or no? That’s what everything I’ve read has said.

Yes, 1 year according to the model guide but there is 1 member whom insists this is not true.

yep...that's me.....I'll start with this....look up the part# for the seat coat ( that's what it is called) same part # for 75 and 76.....y'all get your proof......more to follow...its been posted before on here....but, I'll dig all up again...

The 75 550F debuted in april/may 1975

most naysayers use the Honda Identification Guide as proof of seat color....but no color is given for 75, 76 says brown, 77 says black....That's not evidence for 75, that's conjecture.

since CMS won't open their parts page right now, the seat coat part # for a 1975 and 1976 550F is 77270-390-000

Case closed then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  I just found that magazine on fleaBay and bought it.

Not a big fan of it though. Wonder why they went with that dark of shade that it’s indistinguishable from black most of the time.

because seats that "look" brown look like #$%*, and Honda didn't want their seats to look like #$%*...seems pretty obvious to me
