Dynamo / stator cover cover?
« on: August 29, 2021, 05:46:18 PM »
Anybody seen this setup before? '73 750K3. The finned cover was mounted on top of the dynamo cover with three screws in the stock dynamo cover. The bike HAD a big bore kit in so maybe it was to help get rid of heat? (Had to get a used stock head/cylinder, bored 50 over stock, so big bore kit gone)

The dynamo has been repaired in the past and the bike has apparently been dropped/fell over after that as the bottom of the finned cover is broken off.

Do I need to reinstall the finned cover? I hate to cover up the 'Honda' on the dynamo cover.

That was an aftermarket 'cool' part, not needed and did not affect performance.

Don't think you need it - and its hard to see how there would have been much heat transfer in the first place - let your Honda shine..

You could also get finned cast points covers and starter covers

The K4 I worked on for a friend last year had both finned covers. The stator finned cover also was put on his to cover over the scrapes from a slow slide like Mark K's.

Mine has the finned points cover, it's not banged up and I don't have the stock cover, so I have to use it.

I'd definitely trade the finned cover for an original. Anyone interested?
