« on: January 10, 2024, 07:29:47 AM »
Does anyone know if these crash bars will fit a 78 or 76 550?

Same engine mounting bolts so should do
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Look closely at the second photo (enlarged). Be aware that unlike the original Hondaline Products, the cross brace and the two extra braces, are not full diameter tubes. They are pressed “C” channels. They are well made, but my buddy Gary was a bit disappointed with the ones he ordered for his K8. My ancient originals look better….

Those are made by Tarozzi in Italy. I have a set on my CB750.
They may not be as rigid as the old ones from the '70's due to the half-tube "C" channels but they snug up closer to the engine and, imho, look a little better because of that.

I can say they did protect the engine when I had a low speed spill.
However the bar on the spill side bent slightly and one of the mounts cracked.
I straightened it up and had it welded good as new.
