Old Car Festival - Greenfield Viilage
« on: September 15, 2021, 07:42:06 PM »
We went to the festival on Saturday and spent most of the day there. Everybody had a great time. I only saw a small fraction of the cars there but think I’d like to have a Model A even though they’re relatively common.
 This is Ford Country.

1 Lincoln
2 Auburn
3 Model A
4 Model A truck
5 Model A
6 Pre 1910 whole lotta red
7 Henry’s first: 1896 Quadricycle replica
8 Diamond chain display at Wrights Bicycle shop

Think prices are kind of soft for the Model A and T if I buyer was looking for one. Those collectors are dying out. Were they called a Tin Lizzy ?

Nice pictures. The Henry Ford/Greenfield Village is a terrific museum.

Correct on both, Eric.  Seems the younger generation is loving the '60 & 70's muscle cars but have little to no interest in the antique cars of the 20's.

I've researched Model A'a as my buddy does want one for his collection at some point. $12K for this one [owner passed away] and has been listed for a month.  [My buddy would buy it but really wants one with a rumble seat for the kids]

I’m not a Ford historian, but the way I have heard it is that Henry’s reluctance to give up on the Tin Lizzie Model T was hurting the company. His own son Edsel was behind the Model A.
I didn’t see any for sale signs at the the show. I didn’t chat with the owners about market prices. I don’t have a pole barn, trailer, motor home, etc. that many/most of the owners do, or the space to store any of this. If I pushed most everything else out I might fit a Model A in the garage. I didn’t see a motorcycle either, but there will be plenty at Stockbridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Village offers Model T rides and I have ridden in many of their cars. They are not replicas, they are originals, and there are newer cars created from saved parts. They village/museum is offering employment and I could get a job as a driver. :)

FYI - Some car shows prohibit for sale signs for some reason.

I have a buddy [friend of a friend] that lives in Stockbridge, are you referring to All Clubs Day this Sunday?

Yep,  but I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it. I posted it to the event calendar last night.
Will your pal be there?

I doubt it, he is not a bike guy.

The last  time I was in Stockbridge, 2 years ago, he had a '73 Charger for sale that I test drove.  Nice car but wrong year, the best Chargers are '68-70  [my opinion].
I saw him when I was at Strawberry Lake for Labor Day [our annual trip] and he has since sold the car.
