I had to buy them as a project and piece them together, but I finally have a pair of JBL L100's.
 The cabinets were refinished, grill frames repaired, woofers replaced (still have the other pair but one is split) and new grills installed.

 I'm also working a deal for this Pioneer SX-980. I should have it tomorrow along with the rest of the stuff in the storage unit. Pioneer turntable, speakers, Monitor 10 headphones, cassette player and even a Teac reel to reel. The plan is to flip all that stuff to get a basically free 80WPC receiver!

 No, the guy inherited all this stuff. Had it on Marketplace but was asking too much. After it sat for a few months, I was able to get it all for less than half his initial asking price.
 I'll be selling most of it CHEAP. All I really want is the receiver.

that question is like an oil thread. The audiokarma website has many discussions on that.
But, like vintage sohc4's, vintage stereo stands the test of time. Pioneer HPM 100's are consistently rated high in comparison to equivalent modern.
Supposedly my Pioneer PL 580 turntable is the equivalent of turntables costing $800-$1000 today.
And in a small, personal speaker test, my original Dynaco speakers beat out newer BIC's.
And, my Shure V 15 type III cartridge is still ranked as desirable by some audiophiles.
All of this being said.....
None of the new equipment matches the "Silver faced" 70's equipment in looks....

Cleaned out the vintage stereo equipment from an estate late this summer. Got a McIntosh amp and speakers, Pioneer turntable, a tuner, pair of vintage Radio Shack Nova speakers and some other goodies. All in was around 80 bucks for everything - good deal and worth getting out early. Crappy pics of some of it but you get the idea.

I am.  Marantz 2235, Kenwood KR Kr8050, Kenwood M1/C1 combo, pair of AR XA TTs, Dual 1225 and 5000 tables, Dynaco A10, both Akai and Teac r2r, Utan speakers, Sansui speakers, Bozak 302a along with the console, Sansui Z7000. Preference is silver face with wood enclosures.  Have a bunch of black stuff but rarely use it-one system is used in the basement and another in my shop.

Most all items were found at auctions. MoMo, nee Photolar, also known as Larrry.
