The 2nd to last Man Cup series drag race will be held at Rockingham Dragway this weekend.  Is anyone on the forum planning to attend this event besides Bill Benton and myself?? THE PURSES have increased in both street ET and pro ET.  Come grab that $$$$$$.

No guarantees from me fellas but I intend to do my best.

I'm still holding onto hope that one day we'll have move SOHC bikes in competition. Surely someone on this forum is willing to take a chance.

Excuses, excuses. Lol.

Distance is definitely a factor for you as far as racing on the east coast.  Maybe you can find a dragstrip not far from where you reside and make some passes. On the other hand,  just s hip one of your bikes to Billy and have him keep it here so you could  just fly in to race.

I'm taking my sohc to Byron Il. for the 1/4 mile this weekend. Loading in the trailer tomorrow next to the dragster, I got a new helmet and gloves. Will be making some practice launches before the load up.
I'm hoping to just run T&T in between Super Comp rounds, or if we go out early. The last time there a guy was running a Honda street DOHC bike, I'm not sure the size but the times looked like it might be a race.
Two years ago we qualified #1 with the dragster, , was runner up in the shootout, three rounds in the race and made it to the final the next day before an exhaust rocker let go of it's pushrod.  Not so much this season.

Quick race report:: I got number one qualifier in Super eliminator on the new build. I made one round but spun off the line in round 2 and couldn't catch my opponent.  Unfortunately he crashed his bike at the finish line just in front of me. He was brushed up some but walked away. Thank God for good leathers.

I went to the finals on the F3 in street ET.  I pulled the trigger a tad too soon and redlighted. Settled for 2nd place but it was a decent weekend at the dragstrip overall.

Nice going Frank! Any more races this year?

I've got a few more events this season. Next up will be the NHRA Div 2 team bracket finals in Atlanta.  This will be followed by the XDA series final points race in October.  Then we'll compete at the Hogs Gone Wild series event race at the end of October in Reynolds Georgia.  We'll wrap the season up at the Manufacturers Cup series final points event in Valdosta Georgia. So there's still a lot of racing left to do for us.

Bill did not race. He heard an odd noise from purple rain and decided not to use it in competition this time. The Cobra Girl bike hadn't been prepped for this race so he didn't have an operable backup bike. He did a leak down on the purple rain bike but I never heard his results.

FYI,  in super eliminator I was able to run a 10.35@123mph on the new mono shock bike in qualifying.  Unfortunately I had shifting issues and didn't back it up throughout the 3 qualifying sessions. My hope was to back it up in eliminations so I could reset my own record which presently stands at a 10.46. My hope was to back the 10.35 up in eliminations. I had the bye run 1st round eliminations but the bike missed a shift down track and didn't get within the 1% range. Going into 2nd round I felt I had a decent chance for a solid pass to lower my 10.35 ET.  As luck would have it, I spun off the line and was not able to run close enough to the 1% range. As of now, my previous record still holds in both ET and mph.

Now you can compare note with Jerry RxMan since he has a similar condition thanks to some twit on a sport bike going wide into his lane on the Tail of the Dragron several years ago.

Congrats, Frank :) :)

I'll be watching your escapades from the couch while my broken ankle heals. Went down with my Himalayan on a Forestry road near Yellowstone NP.......I now have Ti plates screws 8)

Oh no!!! You just flew down the salt flats at high speeds without incident but end up injuring yourself at low speeds?? Dang it man. 😕.  As far as the new hardware, we only use titanium to reduce weight. Lol.

I wasn't able to seal the deal in street ET this past weekend but for the next few days I'm in Atlanta participating in the NHRA Div 2 team bracket finals.  I'm racing my Kawasaki dragbike at this event.  I was able to get to the semis today in the gamblers race before breaking out for the loss. Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow because I'll be competing in the race of champions. I won the local track championship at Carolina Dragway which qualified me to race against other track champions within Div 2 to determine the divisional winner.  Wish me luck fellas.

Frank, are the clutches holding up OK?  I've been told they are the weak link, not sure if that's a fact.

Don. I ran a 10.35@124mph. I don't have heavy duty springs. I've been 10.29 on this bike in testing. I haven't pulled the clutch cover off to inspect the plates because I've detected no sign of slippage yet. All I can tell you about what others are saying regarding slippage is to always consider the source. By the way, the clutch pack in my F3 has been in the bike around 3 years or more. I had a few 1.48 sixty foot times last weekend.  Once again,  no heavy duty springs. I  do use stock Honda late F model clutch packs in both bikes, not aftermarket.

Thanks, that's what I remember hearing. A big cc Hayabusa guy was coaching me on the old cb's clutches. My old
1124 had some pretty stock looking clutch stuff in it when I opened it up.
