Zero property tax
« on: September 20, 2021, 09:14:47 AM »
I was at the treasurer's office paying property tax on our vehicles and I asked the guy if they sent me bill for my bikes.

He looked it up and said that they have such low value no property tax needs to be collected.

I feel happy and offended at the same time.  ;D

Property tax on vehicles ?? That doesn't sound good. Do you have to pay for a yearly tab for each license  plate also on top of some kind of a tax ?

We pay tags for license plates plus property taxes on vehicles, boats, RVs...

For instance 2004 Jeep GC with 280 000 miles is assessed at $1950, tax rate is 4.650, assessed tax is $90.68, after 53% discount I pay $42.62 tax this year.  It will most likely go up, our Blackface Governor needs more money to waste  ;)

Our state has no income tax or property tax on vehicles and boats. The tax on gas is really high and yearly license tabs are on the rise again. At least we can afford to keep ten bikes, most on collecter plates. There's also no annual or bi-annual vehicle inspections. It's still a good state to be a car guy in but that could change with the current political climate here.

I have a 71' and a 72' MGB/GT. My hotrod is an 85' GMC S-15 with the stock block 2.8L V6 engine. Originally it was 110hp but now it has about 240hp. 8)

Not exactly "politically correct"!!!

I couldn't care less for old pictures from stupid teenagers, but the double standard aggravates me.  I have seen enough media coverage screaming "racism"  for weeks for much smaller offense.

The state of Montana.

Where motorcycle registrations are good for the life of the owner.

And the speed limit was more of a suggestion, really  8)

A bit less tax for you... A good thing. This is why VA and SC are off my list of possibilities when I flee to a free state after Thanksgiving. I'll never live anywhere I have to pay property tax on all my old junk vehicles. TN looks good from here in NJ. I can hardly wait.

Look at our rates, lot of people are selling and moving out.

That's nuts, I object on principle but didn't realize it was such a large amount. Even with older vehicles it adds up. With rampant inflation resulting in the cost or value of everything going up, I'd expect these property taxes to increase.
