Cb 550k petcock O ring failure on the brass nipple
« on: October 01, 2021, 01:32:39 PM »
The title says the issue. I was trying to remove a fuel line from my petcock and it pulled the brass nipple out with it. The ring on the inside was destroyed however I can seem to find the size of the o ring or how to get it back in anywhere. Is it worth trying to rebuild?

Those nipples are interference fit and are pressed in.  Press it back in.  Or tap it back in.

If anything, use some gasket sealer ( I like Gascacinch), to help it stay and not leak.  I don't think it is necessary though.

I recently had the same thing happen, I used JB weld on it and tapped it back in. So far so good. If they are old fuel lines just cut them off.  Mine were nearly new. I added a little silicone grease, for better or worse it's back on there.
