ive never seen a need for extra inline filters, they can cause trouble and leaks?the fuel tap bowl well on my 500 fits a perfect little round magnet, aint opened it for years and do a lotta miles on it,ill open it this weekend,if you get fuel from old rusty tanks itll trap any fine ferrous, water should settle and fine dirt should aswell,i promise a photo tomorrow!

Hey, Dave, that's a brilliant idea! And very timely: this winter I plan on resurrecting 1 or 2 of the 750s in my shed for sale next Spring (thinking of it as part-time income, and fillers for time when writer's block hits me on this 550 book). One has some rust in the tank, which I'll cover with the POR-15 kit, but I'm gonna look for some magnets anyway.

Yes, I've used magnets on my gl1000 fuel filters since before I cleaned the tank and lined it. I wonder if one glued under a petcock bowl would be an advantage?

little magnet fits perfectly snug, not real powerfull but has trapped some sort of fine rusty FERROUS material,no dirt or water in the bowl, just wiped clean, last opened this say 10 years ago?
