gauge ring setting tool possibility

 Being an old plumber it occurred to me a setting tool for lead waste pipe joints might work for peening the ring back over on a gauge. Here is one, a little softening of the edges I bet it would work well. There are normally inside and outside, the taper is opposite. I'd think we would want inside or just not tapered,
