wire terminal contact for starter switch
« on: October 24, 2021, 03:02:30 PM »
I may be trying to go too cheap here, but I have a 73 CB350F with a messed up starter switch.  Specifically, the contact at the end of the wire that is grounded when the button is pressed is missing.  I've attached a pic of this contact.
Does anyone know of a clever workaround for when this piece is missing that still makes use of the original button/spring/contact plate?

You can buy a replacement switch entirely from 4 into 1 out of San Fran for about $50.00 that are decent quality for a rider bike and your all set with new contacts etc.
If you wish to go cheaper than that well I am sure there are other options too.

It notes this can be used on a CB350F so measure your wire length if you go this route.

These look and work great.  I also added a relay.  You want the normally OPEN version though (pic says opposite).

If you just need the piece in the pic, I’ll look and see if I have one.  But you could probably make your own from a copper rivet and a piece of masonite or fiberglass or some type of small project insulation board (like type g11 - circuit board blanks).  If you have the half moon insulation board piece and just need the contact, you can get a copper rivet and then just solder to the back of it.  Or just replace it with a modern momentary switch.

Steal the horn button contact.
