I received 2 calls today letting me know of the passing of David 750F. One from his mother and one from his good friend Jay. I am in shock and heart broken. I didn't know David very long, he was new to Victoria and found me through this forum, we had an instant like for each other and a strong connection, he was that kind of guy. We would talk endlessly on the phone or in my shop. He would drop by to do some maintenance on his 1976 750F or help me with a problem I may have with one of my bikes. He was very generous with his time and good advice. He even brought some beer by for me. He was knocked out that someone would say "bring your bike over and we'll play".
I never did go for a ride with him. He was much younger than me and enjoyed adrenalin rides, especially the East Sooke Loop. That is my loss.
David was from Ontario, apparently quite private, but it didn't show to me.
He loved his 750F and had it tuned to perfection. He was always looking to make it better.
I liked David very much, he was an instant friend to me and my wife. He helped me get through a rough patch in my life.
HIs mom said David was out walking and slipped on some leaves, falling down hard hitting his head. He was in a coma for a week and passed away last Sunday. He is being cremated on Monday and his Mom asks for us to think of him on Monday.
I will miss him immensely.
Jay will organize a ride is David's honour this Spring.
