CB550F full rebuild surprise. Gen Rotor
« on: November 04, 2021, 01:21:08 PM »
So I'm minding my own business during my teardown of 550 for full rebuild and first time I've taken the ac generator cover of and to my surprise , I see etching in the rotor. I checked the coils and don't see anything that was rubbing to cause these marks. Also, never noticed any charging issues and again I was just doing a teardown to rebuild engine, not because I was hunting down a problem. could that be from arcing ??

Not arcing, as the rotor carries no current.

How do you know these are all original parts?

No visible damage to coils so no problem, it will not affet charging

thanks everyone!  I was suspicious that It might not be OEM, because the bolt as a few marks on the edges. With 26k on the Bike one assumes some level of "virginity" sometimes. :)
