I agree that looks like a Gerex. I had one on a GL1000 some years back.

Not much traffic where the PO lives. I guess he got by. It appears it was under the electrical cover and then moved to where it is. The rectifier is in the tool tray and the voltage reg is moved to the rear and backwards.  With the parts, I got sidecovers with the leading edge cut/broken out, I'd guess he was trying to cool it.
I'm just hoping it still works.

I sorted a 3 gallon bucket of small parts, Not bragging or anything but I found 2 of those tabbed washers that locate the ignition switch.  I'm betting the other bikes are missing at least that many.

Don, I have a new in box Gerex and I would bet it also has instructions. I can confirm that next week or so if you need info.

Oooh, instructions would be awesome, it's currently installed but the engine is stuck and the swelled battery will need to be encouraged to leave it's home.

Hey Jerry, didn't you have something to do with the instructions PDF I posted? Did your system come with coils? I still say it's not doing anybody any good sitting in the box, or under somebody's bed. ;) If you're not going to use it, you might as well pass it on to someone who can put it to good use, like Dennis. ;D ;D

I found a mention of the Gerex, he said it was developed with help from NASA and looked like a flash bulb when it fired.
https://buddmotorsport.wordpress.com/2010/08/15/roy-the-boy-denison-talks-about-a-ride-of-his-life-with-jim-budd/

Thanks guys.  I printed it right away and stapled it, it's going right in the 750 file. Firing 50 times a second is amazing until you remember how many revs it turns in a second. Somewhere I read they could run it rich and still fire the fuel. Sounds like a sponsor deal. I saw an address from Escondido, that's up the road from my buddy's house. This one says Torrance.
My case is cut for the cable like the instructions show.

Thanks again, the Gerex and both types of ARD mag instructions are in the file. It's going to be an interesting winter.

Oddly the smoothbore  red bike has an rc 315 cam on stock springs and and the turbo bike had a stock cam on aftermarket springs.

They both have heavy duty RC cylinder and case studs and forged pistons on aftermarket rods so he didn't cut many corners. Both heads are ported but have stock valves. Included is a built head with stock valves in it too.

I got the last parts out of the broken cases that came along with the buy today, Probably things I'll never need but I saved them just in case.  Kickers, trans gears, neutral switches. studs etc. The PO found keys and thinks there's a broken head somewhere around his shop. We talked about the lost title papers. He thinks the red bike has big stainless steel valves so maybe I'm incorrect about that. I don't want to take all of it apart just yet.

Red low rider. Engine's not stuck, frozen battery out, new one in, key procured, no Honda controls, it's headlight on with the key. I did not hear a whine from the ignition box. Dagnabbit. It was towards the end of the day so I called it and came in. I'll get the instructions and volt meter out next trip. I need repro controls and carb rubbers.
  Edit, part II
The Gerex throws a spark, it doesn't make a noise, there's a 1.2 Volt loss between the battery and the black wire from the ign. box where the red from the Gerex is plugged into, but that's with the headlamp and really dim taillight on.
I untaped the key switch wiring and found twisted wires an inch from solder joints. I'll move the ign box back to the recommended location, repair the wiring and may feed the box and coils with a relay.

PO didn't remember to tell me the 29 smoothbores are centered for a Kawasaki. Explains all the wonky carb rubbers made from radiator hose and electrical tape in the parts totes. Oh well, my KZ has some crappy carbs on it anyway.  I have a cleaned set of stockers.

Don, you need special rubbers to run 29 smoothies on a sohc (or some hacked up rad hoses lol).  They are still available from sudco, Z1 Enterprises, and probably others.  ALLLLL the brass to get them dialed (so much more available for Mikuni vm's) is at Jet'srUs.  This is why you see Kaw's and Suzi's killing it with hot engine set ups and pod filters etc.  There just is not enough tuning parameters with a set of Keihin round tops to re-calibrate the mid throttle positions correctly....although sometimes you can get lucky
If it works good, it looks good...

Thanks, Medyo also explained that in my project thread. I ordered a set of Sudco carb rubbers from Andrews Performance tonight. I wonder if they are the same company that made the cams? I went back out and found one good #2 oe #3 in the rubber parts box.  These are going on the same engine the PO was racing and street riding so maybe they are pretty close. It sits extremely low so I'll need to choose a header wisely.  My brother and I have collected an F2, F0, an RC, V&H, yoshi late type clone, and a large tube don't know what 4-1.  F0 would hit the K brake pedal but the F2 might be the flattest on the bottom.

Be gentle with them if they’re sudco’s, the quality on the sudco boots suck 4ss! Dynoman use to carry better ones, but buzz told me a while back he couldn’t get them anymore. Hopefully youts will be the good’ns

For the money I was hoping I was buying quality not rarity L0L! I'll fab some sort of hanger for sure. I'm considering using a reproduction Z1 air filter and box, I'm just not positive it will fit in the frame.

I used the upper portion of an F2 air-box with Suzuki 1000 'bells' to support my RS34 carbs.

I was working on an old cut up frame and wanted to bolt in an engine case. I remembered the one in the back of the truck ready for the scrapyard so I drug it around to the lift. It has a broken chain hole that a 2x4 would fit into. It was then I noticed a main stud hanging out near the oil filter location, and a full set, and head studs, and a sweet o ring starter plug.
I guess it wasn't quite ready for scrap. I had wondered why the PO kept a destroyed crankcase around all those years. Now I know.
I'm still not sure what's holding the case halves together but it's OK.

I was, but I was hoping to remove one and install a starter. In this case the flywheel was cut on the back side too. L0L. I'm wary of a full weight flywheel on a high compression 836 motor.

I found another set of heavy studs so I soaked them in vinegar, spun in a drill and polished with scotchbrite, ultrasonic cleaner, Rinse, dry WD40 and into dry storage.

I found a picture of a starter plug tapped for an AN fitting, that would be good for a case vent or a turbo drain.

Don, there is lots I don’t know about engines, and lots I have learned here.
Why the concern? Rods and missed shifts?

My late friend and cb750 guru warned me about a quick revving engine and heavy flywheel twisting the end off of the crank. Because he did just that.
He built the 1124 stroker motor I procured after his passing. He also built the big bore motor in a 72 I own, he remembered at that time a shortage of 836 kits but could not say for sure what he used back then.
