I got a set of new out of the box MTC's yesterday but I believe they are stock length.  I'm not sure if they are suitable for the 836 turbo bike but the PO bought them for that use.

I’m sure those rods will be plenty for an 836 turbo…

I’ve got a set of mint MTC rods and a “number of sets” of Golden rods, among other rods.

I’m looking for the short ones specifically.  Both Golden rods and MTC rods came in 113mm length along with the 116mm standard length.

I know they are out there…..

So were the shorter rods for using high dome pistons in the K model motors?

Newday777,

No the 3mm shorter golden rods were meant to be matched with the 6mm longer stroke welded stroker cranks used back then.

Today they are not popular at all because 1:  few people today even run stroker cranks, and 2: longer stroke and shorter rods create an unacceptable rod stroke ratio and 3, there are much better options available to put a stroker crank rotating assembly together.  So nearly all stroker length Golden Rods become shelf art.

Medyo, I sent you a PM.  Looks like those rods are like a hot potato.  I’ve traced them back to you in theory.  Better check under the bed just in case.😂

Correct on all counts. (In my opinion)

I saw two sets walk out of an auction, my money was tied up in case I needed it to buy the sandcast that was for sale later. I got the sandcast and of course later bought the drag bike the rods were for.

A few years back, no idea who the guys were that got them. I was fixated on getting the Sandcast and didn't have auction experience.  The big tube header I missed came walking back down my driveway last year as a gift.
