 These were apparently on the RC 836 motor before the 29 smoothbores. I'm curious what this would accomplish. The carb bodies don't seem to be bored at all.  I'm holding it open a little in the pic. to show the notch.

Open the throttle wide open and check the underside of the slide.  That slide looks to be modified like a Mikuni non smoothbore slide.  I’m curious if there is something filling the void in there.  I have a suspicion.

 I don't think there is, but looked in the smoothbores and see what you're talking about. When these are full open, the notch smooths the part of the slide that still extends down into the bore. My pics will upload soon.

This might help to find out why the throttle cutaway was modified. It affect throttle lifts 1/8 - 1/2.

This mod seems to streamline the lower part at nearly wide open throttle. I don't think they changed the bottom of the slide but could be wrong.  Still fun learning and thanks for the clues. The top of the opening does show a different finish. The arch may be modified too.
