Topic: Stereos on bikes.

Do you listen to music while riding? I've never have. I rather listen to what the engine is telling me. Never saw the need for a stereo on a motorcycle.

What do you think?

i do listen to music in the car.  no music or phone on the bike .  why would you ?

No music while riding...but for sure while doing anything else.  For me, riding is an exercise in concentration.

When I am at my shop sometimes outside I can hear a friend of mine coming down the road from his stereo on his Harley before I see him but can tell its him  . I would be kind of embarrassed to blast it that loud !

I love listening to music while I ride. I relax and focus even better. Some of my friends say that when I am listening to music I tend to ride away from them. I have a Bluetooth set-up in my helmet. When I am on a roadtrip with my riding partner we use the bike to bike intercom. It's a huge help when going through cities and dealing with traffic while out on the road. It has saved our asses more than once.

I see a lot of Harley's and goldwings just blaring the music. I think it's a way of getting attention. Not sure.

Yep, I tried riding with my Walkman once years ago. I couldn't do it, not being able to hear the bike or potential traffic sounds just made me even more paranoid.

Another no. I guess if I had a big cruiser bike and was doing a lot of long distance freeway riding I'd consider it. But I like to hear what's around and under me.

When you have music in the helmet it doesn't have to be stupid loud. You can still hear the motor and traffic around you. I've had music and intercom in my helmet since 2017 and I like it. I can also send turn by turn navigation to my helmet.

Being able to communicate with a fellow rider would be nice while on the move. Horns and hand signals work also I guess.

had one on one of my old veapas and i loved it, the tape player would eat tapes on a regular basis but that was the price of it i guess

bought one to put on the valkwing i just swapped to terry but didn't own it long enough to install so now it can go on the R3, its just an amp and speakers so you just plug desired device into it ( mp3 player, radio, bluetooth receiver etc )

Nowadays I can't stand radio or any commercials actually.  I listen only to my own music and only in car or in the shop, I don't need music for riding.

Reminds me of a bike ride with 5 Honda friends a few years back.  We had stopped at a scenic overlook by a State Park for a quick break.  10 min later, we hear music heading towards us and all of a sudden we were surrounded by at least 15 Harleys and they park at the small overlook. The music continued and they opened up the side bag on one of the bikes and pulled out some cold beers, it was a traveling party! They did want to talk about our old Hondas and at least two of them said they used to have one.

But, no music when riding my bikes.   I do use ear buds with music when driving my old Chevy convertible...

For me riding my bike is about that, riding the bike, hearing the engine, enjoying the ride and scenery. I have never thought I needed music to enhance the experience.

 I used the radio on my gl1000 coming back from Sturgis, it's a long, long, way down I90, I found good music most of the way. Not bragging about my speakers but I got a set of Krako's and a Craig am fm cassette player.
